PIG LIFE AT MIRROR BROOK
FEEDING TIME : The pigs are fed on a combination of GM free pig nuts and Organic brewers grains left over from a local brewery, (the latter go on to ferment in the bags before feeding giving the pigs a taste for the good life!).This diet helps to fatten them more slowly without putting on too much fat. They are however rare breeds which produce much more fat on the meat than you may be used too. This is where all the flavour is and as a result there is need to inject the meat with water to keep it moist.

BASIC INSTINCT : Pigs rooting and wallowing are examples of the animal exhibiting natural behaviour denied to them in intensive units. Activity and exercise adds texture to the meat.
REST : After a hard day in the wallow its time to rest those hams.
